If what most of the experts involved in the AI industry anticipate is true, many, if not all of the jobs as we know them will in 30 (maybe less) years become unnecessary, irrelevant, and would be replaced by computers, algorithms, and robots. In addition, the exponential development in synthetic biology in the next decade or two would enable producing food and materials in labs, making most of the existing industries change. Automation and technological advancement will change the labor market drastically.
I personally agree with the approach that most of the jobs as we know them today would disappear from the labor market, but that new ones, which we can’t think of today, would be created.
Therefore, what will definitely happen is that we humans will have much more free time at our disposal at a very young age.
I think the fact that we will have many more hours of spare time each day, in my opinion, might have a few significant implications. On the positive side, there is an opportunity to develop a “new world” of education, culture, and adult gaming, in which people will now have time to participate and be active in. On the other hand, people could potentially become bored, depressed, and lose a big part of their purpose in life, which might create a massive crisis for humanity. Many aspects of our emotional and social needs are provided from and in our professional life, which could be profoundly destabilized due to the extreme changes discussed.
When thinking of this challenge and the ways to start confronting it, I believe that the DAO’s and the new social structures that are developed through them might become a significant part of the solution. People will be able to find different and new purposes in life based on the variety of the different groups while connecting to diverse, international chains and people. The nature of the DAO’s is, that you have the ability to partner with people with exactly the same passions and interests, and with them you can develop and contribute precisely what you find meaningful
We will contribute, develop passion, and receive recognition in this new sphere using the different social groups, because as we said “all we have left, is time”.
